Synopsis

Trapped in a monotonous provincial life, a young man discovers he can no longer remember his dreams. Set entirely at night in a small Tuscan town, Amnesia – It’s Time to Forget follows a restless young man haunted by the disappearance of his dreams. His insomnia becomes the symptom of a deeper rupture: with his past, his desires, and the place he inhabits.

Drawn toward an elusive female figure known as the “Red Lady,” he begins to question what is real and what has been collectively removed or ignored. The city itself becomes a psychological space, suspended between everyday provincial life and a surreal, almost dreamlike dimension.

Through a fragmented narrative structure and a persistent voice-over, the film explores memory as a political and emotional territory, where personal trauma intersects with social marginalization. The story unfolds as a noir investigation without a traditional crime, replacing action with atmosphere and inner tension.

Director’s Approach

The film was shot entirely at night over the course of more than a year, using real locations in Monsummano Terme, Tuscany. This decision shaped both the visual language and the production process, transforming the town into an active narrative presence.

All performances were filmed without direct sound. Dialogue and soundscapes were reconstructed entirely in post-production, allowing precise control over rhythm, silence, and atmosphere. This unconventional choice places sound design at the core of the film’s identity.

The project embraces a “zero-kilometer cinema” philosophy: a locally rooted production conceived with the ambition and discipline of a full-scale feature film.
